Grant,
From what I've read (I don't own any), many of these mobile touchscreen devices seem very prone to freezes and software glitches. You are probably aware of the MM AD3500 support subforum <a href="http://memory-map.co.uk/supportforum/viewforum.php?f=55" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>, some similar problems reported.

Judging by the hype, MM seem to have a faultless product. However after the screen of my AD3500 froze on the THIRD replacement unit I've discovered that the PC to 3500 link and all the hassle needed to get any maps up on screen or reciprocated on the AD3500 is far too suseptible to incompetent MM programming. A completely useless product! Stick with GARMIN - at least that works and the upload/download of data is a cinch compared to the AD3500.

This is going back a while. I don't have any mobile devices myself, but this may be useful to someone.

I bought the VMS touring 500 last year and SD of the 1:25k vic.maps.
Now I got a new laptop which will not have Internet on it. When I tried to activation the Vic. 1:25k maps I was not successfull. There is no Serial Nr. on the original package.
You could make it much easier to activate your GPS on a computer which is not connected to the Internet.
At the time my User ID was gunter and my password 221037

seema,
Just in case you don't know about it, there is an MM sub-forum dedicated to the 3500 on the MM UK site <a href="http://memory-map.co.uk/supportforum/viewforum.php?f=55" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>. You could try posting questions there.

pearmund,
To recap, pukka Keys and Serials for MM V5 will give you a licensed MM product, but the registration on the MM server and subsequent online activation of software features still need to be done - this process should be an automated one, at least for GPS and Print features.
Which exact version of MM are you running?.
Drop me an email via the Contact page of the main website (click the logo at top-left of this page).

Beware if you have an old style serial number, resources are not automatically when you install on a new machine, nor can you use the old style serial to enable features, meaning that it is impossible to either print or export tracks, maps, or anything else. I have now been waiting more than a month for Memory Map to re-enable these features for me, to no avail - ultimately making Memory Map a useless application.

I can't understand why a fully activated copy would expire, but anyway the process sounded a bit fraught to rely on if you are going away. Quite a few people have decided to stick with MM 5.1.3.
Having both OS and Harveys is indeed the best of both worlds, I tend to study both at home but I take the OS printouts on most trips, just because I'm more used to them I guess.

Hi geoff

Well just had a great two weeks in Cumberland and made the most of the liquid sunshine !

Really glad that I am running the earlier version of MM on my laptop & PDA as the latest version on my desktop is not reliable enough.

This is a genuine version and was fully activated online. Now it has deactivated & won't accept my details anymore, cannot export in CSV format & it tells me that the license for basic GPS has expired.

Well thats that, I will get it running again & export all my overlays as CSV's then delete the latest version & instal the earlier pre activation version. Then just import my CSV files & save as MNO's job done and no more MM upgrades.

Really liked having my maps in OS & harveys whilst on vacation, the OS were great for general use but the Harveys were better on the higher routes.

                                      all the best Roy
