Thanks Geoff. You've given me plenty of inspiration for places to go and try. I also do a bit of photography and hoping to get some really stunning shots.
Keep up the good work!

Mark,
Thank you for the kind feedback.
I've never had a dog myself so I can't be certain, but the only part of the route that even approaches anything awkward is the descent of Cnicht. It's not a scramble though, just a steep rocky path like many others in Wales and the Lakes, so I think it would be fine.
The walk you heard about is probably that very route, it starts from Croesor and climbs that steep south ridge. It's very popular and lots of people do it, no scrambling involved.

Hi Geoff,
I'm a newby to wildcamping. I've just got some bits of kit and will continue to get more bits required so I can start next year. I am also doing alot of research on the net and the info on this site is fantastic! I often go camping around Bedgellert so this route really took my eye. I would like to try it out next year.
I always go out with my dog, so I am limited to where I can get to. ie, no scrambling. How difficult is this route? I'm thinking of Cnicht. I did hear somewhere there is a nice walk up Cnicht? If this route would not be possible, could you reccomend any easier routes for me to try?
Thanks

Russell,
Thank you, winter always brings out the best in the hills. The Ysgafell Wen area is dream pitching territory with plenty of good spots.
I've reciprocated the link to your site, I saw your post about the pitch by the delectable Llynnau Cerrig-y-mwllt.

Fabulous photographs Geoff. Superb winter conditions. Most of the hill days i've experienced that were "special" have all been in winter. I'm planning on heading up that way fir a wild camp in a few weeks time. Looking forward to it.

Nigel,
Thanks very much, a real stunner. It's a beautiful area we never tire of, ideal for backpacking with lots of excellent ground for pitching. It does feel quite remote, especially around Llyn Edno and Moel Meirch.

Wow! The photo's are breathtaking! Sounded like a fantastic trip. I had a quick taste of Cnicht and the Moelwyns last year and have always planned on returning for a longer wildcamp trip - feels so remote and unspoilt.

Martin,
It sure is, backpacks like that are so good I arrive back home and find it hard to concentrate on anything else - except maybe the next one!.

Phil,
A brilliant trip. I'll be spoilt for a while now, you don't get vistas like that outside winter.
